There is a news item posted on the US site (onlinebible.net) which says some changes have been made which will finally allow us poor Linux users to run OLB with WINE. I made an attemp at this but got the same problem I have had for the last several years. The program will install and run in the background but with no visible display on the screen.
Has anyone had an success with this since the latest changes? I am running Ubuntu Linux, which is apparently what it was tested on, but it doesn't work for me.
Full support for WINE which means the program will run on Mac and Linux with
WINE. WINE version is restricted to the starter pack modules. It requires an
unlock fee like the Pocket PC to access all modules. We would like to recover
some of our development expenses. ($15 US http://shop-secure.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=c-versions) The existing Windows Unicode version runs
under WINE. Testing was done on the free version of Wine version 1.1.28
(http://www.winehq.org) and Ubuntu Linux 9.04 (April 2009) On the MAC,
Codeweaver’s WINE was used. We have not extensively tested other versions of
Linux with WINE and have had reports of it not working on some versions of
Linux. The audio portion of the Online Bible is not supported under WINE.
